Organizer name : Professor Khaled Ahmed Nagaty. Computer Science department at the British University in Egypt

Aim and scope of the special session:

Cloud computing brings together a large variety of services that are available through the Internet. The most common cloud services are Software as a Service (SaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS) and Infrastructure as a Service (PaaS). Many security issues arise for enterprises storing and processing their sensitive data on third-party servers to which they have no access or control on them. These security issues introduce increased demands on both security and privacy protection of data on cloud data centers. Therefore cryptographic, identity management and access control techniques must be strong enough to meet the increased requirements for data integrity and confidentiality, ensure users privacy and enhance their trust in cloud services. At the same time, these techniques must be efficient enough for the implementation on scalable environment which maintains both reliability and availability of cloud services.

The aim of this session is to present the latest research and results of scientists related to fields of cryptography, cloud security, access control and identity management in cloud computing. By using MCDA, the user will be able to choose from among a number of available choices.

This special session aims to consolidate and disseminate the latest developments and advances in these emerging focus areas. We encourage participation from both academic and industry researchers working in the area of using MCDA methods and architectures for Cloud Services technologies, theories, services, architectures, and protocols. The main goal is to present a latest snapshot of the cutting-edge research as well as to shed light on future directions in this exciting area.

5)Title of the special session: Machine Learning on the Cloud

Organizer name : Max M. He, Ph.D., Center for Human Genetics, Marshfield Clinic Research Foundation, USA.

Hamid R. Arabnia, Ph.D., University of Georgia, USA

Ahmad P. Tafti, Ph.D., Center for Human Genetics, Marshfield Clinic Research Foundation, USA.

Aim and scope of the special session:

Machine learning, known as an advanced computational technology, has been increasingly used to discover hidden patterns/knowledge and insights from massive and diverse data sources. Some successful applications of machine learning include computer vision, speech recognition, genomic study, face recognition, spam detection, medical diagnosis, customer segmentation, and many more. However, applying machine learning algorithms on large-volume datasets is computationally intensive and it consumes large amount of resources, such as CPU and memory. This challenge limited the development of machine learning strategies. The emergence of mining large-scale datasets on cloud infrastructures enables machine learning algorithms to be applied in scenarios that they were not possible before. Developing cloud-based machine learning approaches are opening new opportunities to extend machine learning applications. It will enhance computational power and scale up the capacity for storage large-volume various resources based on users’ needs.

To better develop state-of- the-art machine learning approaches in diverse research area, this special session focuses on learning methods, algorithms, solutions, and strategies to address scalable and distributed machine learning approaches/services on the cloud. The session is expected to address the challenges among machine learning approaches, cloud architectures, distributed systems, and other interesting topics.

6)Title of the special session: Taking IoT to the Edge with the Analytics of Things

Organizer name : Morcous M. Yassa Massoud,PhD, Language of Edge - Ahrahm technology, Al-Ahram Establishment

Manuscript submission deadline: (Final date of submission ):28 Oct. 2016

Aim and scope of the special session:

How to Move from Connecting Things to Capturing Insights?, After the Internet of Things (IoT), the Analytics of Things (AoT) is the next logical step for the enterprises. In fact, without the AoT, it is difficult to realize the full potential of the IoT. It is not enough to just accumulate a lot of data from devices, but enterprises need to make sense out of the data and do something that makes these devices more efficient. Also, the data generated have the potential to improve a lot of things about the business. The time is over that we can push the data to a centralized location for integration purposes, we have to push the integration to the data.” This is where AoT is so relevant. Businesses need sound analytics that improves the ways it runs the business and overall, the bottom line.

However, as enterprises plan to turn to AoT, they face numerous challenges on the way. IoT itself is still evolving and AoT is in its infancy, so there will be a lot of confusions and misconceptions leading to wrong investments of money and effort. Enterprises need to invest on technology and skilled manpower to get the best out of AoT. A lot of time and patience is required on the way. The question will be, how many can sustain the tempo for that long?.

Topics covered by the special session: Analytics of Things. Big Change in Business Analytics. Challenges. Opportunities. Techniques. Standardize or Not to Standardize?. and IoT workflows. Case studies. Business Models.Virtualization
